Program #108- Part 1 Conversation with Filmmaker Adam Larsen- Producer of the Documentaries Neorotypical and Undersung- a Love Story Unlike Any You’ve Seen

Listen to our conversation with filmmaker Adam Larsen. Mr. Larsen is a documentarist and a video projection designer for live performances. He has completed projects for over 200 productions in opera, dance, and theater. Mr. Larsen directed two feature-length documentary films about disabilities. One of them is the acclaimed film titled Neurotypical. This film is described as a film that “Looks at the World through the Eyes of the Autistic” or as an “unprecedented exploration of autism from the point of view of autistic people themselves.” Neurotypical was premiered as part of the award winning documentary series POV (Point of View). It was featured as a Film that Reverses the Mirrors of Perception to Reveal Autism Spectrum and a Lot of Questions about What Constitutes “Normal”.

Mr. Larsen’s follow up documentary was titled Undersung. This film is “a love story unlike any you’ve seen.” It focuses on the challenges surrounding caregiving for severely disabled family members. Mr. Larsen shares inside information on how both films were made. He also shares personal stories about how unexpectedly touching this experience was, both at the professional and human level. This is an absolutely fascinating interview you will want to hear.
