Listen to our conversation with Joanne Lara. Ms. Lara is an expert in the field of movement therapy. She is a professional dancer turned educator and founder of the Autism Movement Therapy® organization. She is an adjunct professor at National University and was the Autism Consultant for Kiefer Sutherland’s FOX TV show Touch. She also produced the documentary for PBS called Generation A: Portraits of Autism and The Arts. In addition, Ms. Lara is a columnist for Autism Asperger’s Digest and is the author of the book Autism Movement Therapy® Method: Waking up the Brain. This book is a practical guide for the use of movement and music to stimulate brain function, impact sensory processing and help with difficult to manage behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
